ISEUM SAVARIENSE – Szombathely
The first excavation of the Roman monument complex began in the mid-1950’s, but it was not until the early 2000’s that the final idea to restore the area was born. An essential element of the multi-building construction is the Isis Shrine embraced around the museum, which is a fine example of the presentation of a theoretical restoration. The facility was awarded the Construction Industry Award in 2012. Of the Roman isis churches known and excavated today, Szombathely is the third largest, only the main churches in Rome and Alexandria are larger than it.
